Cambodia, India Discuss Defence Cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Cambodia, Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, held here yesterday a bilateral talk with his visiting Indian counterpart, H.E. Ms. Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman.

The meeting focused mainly on bilateral cooperation in the field of national defence.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh recalled India's support to the training of Cambodian military officers in peacekeeping skill and mine clearance as well as its donation of 15 mine-detection dogs which have contributed vitally to successful mine clearance activity in the country.

Cambodia also asked the Republic of India to support necessary equipment for mine clearance, he added.

India provided those dogs as well as capacity building for Cambodian expert to use them since 2016, following a bilateral meeting between Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Indian Ambassador to Cambodia.
