Cambodia, Malaysia Sign MoU to Promote Cambodian Migrant Workers’ Rights and Welfare

Cambodia and Malaysia have reached an agreement to promote rights, welfare and protection of Cambodian migrant workers in Malaysia.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed here on Wednesday between concerned associations of the two countries in the presence of H.E. Ith Samheng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training.

The signatories include Manpower Association of Cambodia (MAC), Association of Cambodian Recruitment Agencies (ACRA), Malaysian Association of Foreign Maid Agencies (PAPA), National Association of Human Resources of Malaysia (PUSMA) and Malaysian National Association of Employment Agencies (PIKAP).

The agreement signed serves as a basis not only to further improve benefit for Cambodian migrant workers in Malaysia, but also provide them legal support when abused.

By far, Cambodia has in total 103 licensed private recruitment agencies in charge of training and selecting Cambodians for overseas work, and 96 of them are for Malaysia as of October 2018.
