Cambodia To Spend Over US$19 Million for Infrastructure Construction and Improvement

The Royal Government of Cambodia is planning to spend more than US$19 million to improve local connectivity and to link the Kingdom to other countries in the region.

Speaking at the Dissemination Seminar on Logistics Master Plan Study Report in Cambodia held in Phnom Penh yesterday, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol said the planned budget will be used to build and improve land, waterway and rail transport and to construct expressways as well as to take part in regional connectivity.

The expansion of National Road No. 5 from Phnom Penh to Battambang and Banteay Meanchey provinces, which is part of ASEAN Highway, the enlargement of National Road No. 3 from Phnom Penh to Kampot, the improvement of National Road No. 11 from Neak Loeung to National Road No. 7 and so on are part of the master plan.

Mr. Sugano Yuichi, Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Cambodia Office, said the Logistics Master Plan 2018-2025 provides long-term vision and sets clear goals and strategies for logistics system construction and improvement, which will contribute to the economic development in Cambodia and in the region.
