Cambodian Bar Association Delegation Pays Courtesy Call on PM Hun Sen

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen received here this morning at the Peace Palace a delegation of the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia led by its President Mr. Suon Visal.

On the occasion, Mr. Suon Visal briefed the Premier on the history and activities of the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia, including its administrative and financial reforms, regional and international cooperation, and so on.

Mr. Suon Visal also informed Samdech Techo Hun Sen of the cooperation between the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Ministry of Justice in proving legal assistance for poor people.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Mr. Suon Visal for the report and recommended that all reforms should be performed in accordance with the laws of Cambodia and international norms. He further encouraged the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia to further strengthen and enhance the lawyers' capacity to help poor people both in urban and rural areas.

According to the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the country currently has in total 1,204 full-right lawyers, 237 of them are women, 22 law firms, 106 lawyers clubs, and 315 lawyers offices.
