Cambodian PM To Participate in ASEAN Leaders’ Gathering in Bali

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will attend the ASEAN Leaders' Gathering on Oct. 10-12, 2018 in Bali, Indonesia, at the invitation of President of the Republic of Indonesia H.E. Joko Widodo.

According to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation AKP received this morning, the ASEAN Leaders' Gathering will be held under the theme Achieving SDGs and Overcoming Development Gap through Regional and Global Collaborative Actions in conjunction with the Annual Meeting Plenary of the Board of Governors of International Monetary Fund (IMF)and World Bank Group (WBG).

The Cambodian Premier has also been invited as a Special Honorary Guest at the Annual Meeting Plenary on Oct. 12 by Mr. Petteri Orpo, Annual Meeting Chairman, Mrs. Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the IMF and Mr. Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank Group.

At the ASEAN Leaders' Gathering, Samdech Techo Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver key remarks on ASEAN's economic resiliency, potential market, the fourth industrial revolution, the building of ASEAN Economic Community and Millennium Development Goals.

The ASEAN leaders will optimise this opportunity to exchange views and further engage with the IMF Managing Director, the World Bank President and the United Nations Secretary General in building synergy among the national efforts, ASEAN, and global financial institutions to address key issues related to strengthening financial stability in the region and accelerating economic development and regional integration.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. PrakSokhonn, Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak, and senior officials of the Royal Government as well as business leaders from Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.

The Cambodian Prime Minister is currently in Japan for the 10th Mekong-Japan Summit in Tokyo.
