CRC Collects Over US$18 million from Local and Foreign Charitable People

The Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) has obtained more than US$18 million from local and foreign donors to continue its humanitarian mission in the Kingdom, show the preliminary figures.

This amount of funding of which US$17.73 million and 118.24 million Riel was collected during the celebration of the 155th Anniversary of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day held at the CRC's headquarters in Phnom Penh yesterday under the presidency of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse Samdech Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of CRC.

According to the CRC president, from 2017 to April 2018, CRC has been carrying out its 2011-2020 strategy focusing on four core areas: disaster management, community-based health care and education, promotion of humanitarian values, and institutional development.

Besides, CRC had dug some 440 wells and ponds for the benefit of over 10,000 rural households, and provided emergency relief to more than 100,000 vulnerable households, etc.

Last year's celebration under the theme Cambodian Red Cross is Everywhere for Everyone collected in total US$13.4 million from 523 local and foreign donors.
