EDC Expanding Electrical Power Transmission in Phnom Penh

Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) or Electricity of Cambodia has commissioned a Japanese technical firm to expand electrical power transmission in the Phnom Penh capital.

Official agreement of the work was inked here in Phnom Penh yesterday by EDC Director General H.E. Keo Ratanak and representative of the commissioned TOENEC Corporation and Sumitomo Electric Industrial and Siemens.

The job, as underlined by H.E. Keo Ratanak in a press release of the EDC, intends to increase power supply capacity and quality in order to meet fast-growing development in the capital.

The US$39.2 million worth assignment will enable installation of two new sub-stations to transmit the power.

The investment was made possible by remaining loan from the grant of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) granted for the Ministry of Economy and Finance since 2014.

JICA representatives also took part in the official agreement signing by ECD and the Japanese technical firm.
