Environment Ministry Examines ESIA Report for Koh Por Development Project

Cambodian Ministry of Environment examined here yesterday the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report for Koh Por development project in Kep province, according to the ministry's news release.

Koh Por resort development project is owned by Island DG (Cambodia) Ltd., and the ESIA has been studied by Creative Green Design Co., Ltd.

This ESIA report was evaluated in an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by H.E. Ms. Meas Morin, Under Secretary of State for Environment with the participation of officials from the Ministry of Environment and other relevant ministries and institutions as well as the NGO Forum.

The meeting voiced its support to the project, but recommended the company to keep the forest, at least 60 percent of the total development area, to speed up the elaboration of the master plan to submit to the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) for approval, to settle all conflicts with local people before launching the project, and to manage solid, liquid and mud waste in accordance with the technical standards.
