Forest Law Amendment Underway to Better Preserve the Resource

The Royal Government is looking into the amendment of forest law to better preserve the natural resource in the country.

The consideration was revealed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng when addressing a recent provincial meeting in Battambang.

The modification of the law on forestry, added the deputy prime minister, aims to delegate more authority to provincial level in protecting forests in their respective territory.

He continued that the current law does not provide sufficient authority to provincial officials to address illegal logging.

The amendment of the forest law will happen in this sixth-mandate of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
