French Ambassador Pays Courtesy Visit to Senior Minister Sun Chanthol

Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol received here on Monday H.E. Mrs. Eva Nguyen Binh, Ambassador of the Republic of France to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT)'s news release, H.E. Sun Chanthol expressed his appreciation and sincere thanks for the continued cooperation and relationship between the two countries, especially the support through the Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD) on water supply, sanitation projects and sustainable development of Cambodian cities.

H.E. Senior Minister briefed his guest on the recent reform initiatives and key infrastructure development projects, as well as the future plans for the country's transport and infrastructure development.

H.E. Sun Chanthol also showed his strong interest in reactivating the Tramway initiative and requested that the French ambassador and her team help support initiatives related to improving public transport in Phnom Penh that will result in reducing the city's traffic congestion.

In reply, H.E. Mrs. Eva Nguyen Binh took note and pledged to work on these requests. She highly valued the MPWT's efforts and achievements and expressed her country's interest in expanding cooperation on the improvement of public transport activities and water sanitation.

On the same day, H.E. Sun Chanthol held talks with newly appointed Thai Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Panyarak Poolthup, during which they agreed to invite both countries' Premiers to examine the railway situation as a symbol of railway connection between the two neighbouring nations.
