GDCE Delegation Attends ASEAN Directors-General of Customs Meeting in Malaysia

Cambodian senior delegation of the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) led by its Director General H.E. Kun Nhim has attended the 27th meeting of ASEAN Directors-General of Customs in Langkawi of Malaysia.

Lasting from May 2 to 4, the event was participated by representatives from the ten ASEAN member countries and ASEAN Secretariat.

The meeting focused mainly on establishment of sub-technical working group for goods classification and progress review on the development of ASEAN transport and customs procedures for goods in transit and inter-state transport of goods.

It also looked into ASEAN Framework Agreement on the Facilitation of Goods in Transit (AFAFGIT), the formulation of working group to study ASEAN Authorised Economic Operators, and exchange of certification of goods origins among some members.

From his side, H.E. Kun Nhim shared participating delegates on Cambodia's achievements in customs sector, especially in Container Control Programme in Sihanoukville international port, which is a joint programme of World Customs Organisation and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Cambodian customs delegation held bilateral talks with customs administrative delegations from Japan and Thailand, and joined other meetings with business councils of ASEAN-U.S., ASEAN-EU as well as ASEAN-private sector.
