Gov’t To Spend Over US$7 Million as Incentive for Civil Servants during Pchum Ben Festival

The Royal Government of Cambodia has planned to spend about 30 billion Riel (more than US$7 million) as incentive for all civil servants and armed forces on the occasion of the Pchum Ben Festival.

The information was made known by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in the first cabinet plenary session held here this morning at the Peace Palace.

In the upcoming Pchum Ben Festival, the civil servants, armed forces, retirees and local officials starting from village level will receive each 50,000 Riel (about US$12.5), he said.

Moreover, according to the Premier, the civil servants and armed forces will receive their October salary in the first week of the month as the Pchum Ben Festival will be celebrated in the second week, while their November salary will be given on the second week and their December salary on the third week.

From January 2019 onwards, they will get their salary every 15 days as planned, Samdech Techo Prime Minister underlined.

Pchum Ben Festival or the Festival for the Dead, one of the biggest festivals in Buddhism, falls this year on Oct. 9.
