Japan Supporting Four Mine Clearance Projects

Japan is supporting four projects on mine clearance and assistance for the victims, according to Director General of Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) H.E. Heng Ratana.

Speaking to reporters after the recent visit of a Member of the House of Representatives and former Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan H.E. Kazunori Tanaka to CMAC's Peace Museum in Siem Reap province, the CMAC director general said the four ongoing projects will come to an end next year and Cambodia has been asking Japan to continue its support.

The four projects covers three provinces � Battambang, Banteay Meanchey and Kampong Thom.

For the last 25 years, more than 1,000 square kilometres of land were cleared, involving over 2.7 million landmines and unexploded ordnance.
