Korea Interested in Investing in Kampong Thom Province’s Tourism Sector

Korean investors have shown their interest to invest in tourism sector in Kampong Thom province, especially Sambo Prei Kuk Temple, about 30 kilometres northeast of the provincial town.

The intention was shared by Minister of Tourism H.E. Thong Khon after his meeting with visiting Secretary General of ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) H.E. Lee Hyuk, in Phnom Penh yesterday afternoon.

H.E. Thong Khon welcomed the interest and suggested the Korean side invest in opening hotels, golf course, creating new tourism products, constructing roads to community, etc.

In addition, H.E. Minister sought Korea's continued support to Cambodia's ecotourism development, human resource training on tourism, and informed his guest of the tourism investment potential at the Cambodian coastal areas.

On the occasion, H.E. Thong Khon accepted H.E. Lee Hyuk's invitation to attend ASEAN-Korea Tourism Workshop in the near future.

In 2017, Cambodia attracted more than 300,000 Korean tourists.

Situated in Sambo village, Sambo commune, Prasat Sambo district, Kampong Thom province, Sambo Prei Kuk, a group of Khmer ancient temples, was listed as a new World Heritage Site of UNESCO on July 8, 2017 during the 41st session of the World Heritage Committee held in Krakow, Poland.
