NA Endorses Draft Law on Minimum Wage

The National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia approved the draft law on minimum wage during its 10th session of the 5th legislature held here this morning under the presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of NA.

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen also attended the session along with other 108 lawmakers.

H.E. Ith Samheng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, who represented the Royal Government to defend the draft law, said the draft law on minimum wage is aimed to enhance the decent living conditions, create job opportunities and increase productivity of workers and employees as well as to further improve investment and business environment.

This draft law, composed of 6 chapters and 30 articles, was endorsed by the cabinet ministers on May 25, 2018.

Besides, the lawmakers approved the draft law on amendment to the article 87, heading of point C of chapter 4's 3rd section, and articles 89, 90, 91, 94, 110, 120, 122 of the Labour Law promulgated by a royal decree dated Mar. 13, 1997; and the draft law on amendment to the articles 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, heading of chapter 4, and articles 16, 19, 26, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 65, 66, 67, 68 of the Law on Standards of Cambodia promulgated by a royal decree dated June 24, 2007.
