NBC: Cambodia’s Economic Growth Would Be at 7 Percent This Year

The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) has forecast that the country would achieve an economic growth of about 7 percent in 2019.

According to the NBC's Macroeconomic and Banking Progress in 2018 and its Outlook for 2019, Cambodian economy would grow at a rate of 7 percent this year, while the inflation rate will continue to remain at a lower rate of 2.6 percent.

Foreign exchange reserves are expected to reach US$11.3 billion, which equals five months of import and services, while bank credit service will continue to grow at a rate of 17.1 percent, it underlined.

For last year, NBC predicted the country's economic growth at 7.3 percent.

The NBC's six-page report also shared the positive trend in 2018 of some key sectors such as garment, construction, and tourism which achieved a double-digit growth, as well as the flow of foreign direct investment that rose by 12 percent.
