Outgoing British Ambassador Shares Positive Note on Cambodia’s Future

Outgoing British Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Bill Longhurst has expressed his optimism about Cambodia's democracy and development.

The ambassador shared the impression in his farewell meeting with Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh yesterday.

Cambodia's democracy and development, said the ambassador, will continue to flourish after the July 29, 2018 general election.

He added that the British government looks forward to further support Cambodia's mine clearance efforts and enhance economic and investment cooperation with Cambodia.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn thanked H.E. Bill Longhurst for the positive note and spoke highly of contribution of the United Kingdom to the development of Cambodia.

According to the outgoing diplomat, in 2017, trade volume between Cambodia and UK has increased to more than US$1 billion and 171,000 British tourists visited Cambodia.
