Over 2,000 Young Trees Planted in a Park in Preah Vihear Province

More than 2,000 young trees of precious species have been planted in the Royal Academy of Cambodia Techo Sen Russey Trep Park in Dang Plet village, Chhep 2 Commune, Chhep district, Preah Vihear province.

The tree planting ceremony took place this morning under the presidency of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

Those young trees were planted after more than 150,000 others have been grown on an area of some 50 hectares out of over 100,000 hectares of the Royal Academy of Cambodia Techo Sen Russey Trep Park.

Dr. Sok Touch, President of the Royal Academy of Cambodia, said that the park, established by a royal decree dated April 8, 2014, covers a total area of 114.35 square kilometers. It is under the direct management of the Royal Academy of Cambodia of the Office of the Council of Ministers.

According to Dr. Sok Touch, this is a potential area for cultural and natural conservation.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen vowed his support to the Royal Academy of Cambodia's long-term perspective in safeguarding endangered wood and animal species, and urged for more tree planting and cultural and natural preservation in order to attract tourists.

The Premier stressed on the need to improve the living conditions of local people as a contribution to forest conservation, and encouraged all competent authorities and other relevant parties as well as the local people to take part in preventing logging and wild animal hunting.
