Parliament Endorses Proposed Amendment to Law on Management of Municipal, Provincial, City, District, and Khan Administrations

National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia has approved the proposed law on amendment to the law on municipal, provincial, city, district, and Khan Administration management.

The approval was made during the first session of the NA's sixth legislature here in Phnom Penh yesterday under the chairmanship of its President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin.

In his address, H.E. Cheam Yeap, President of NA's Economic, Financial, Banking and Audit Commission and Representative of the signatories, shared that the law on municipal, provincial, city, district, and Khan Administration management was promulgated by a royal decree in 2008.

He continued that the amendment intends particularly to modify the formulation of the number of municipal, provincial, city, district and Khan council members.

The amendment will increase the members of municipal council from 21 to 27, of provincial council from 15 to 27, of city council from 11 to 21, and of district and khan council from 11 to 21.

During the same session, NA also endorsed another proposed law on amendment to municipal, provincial, city, district and khan council election law.
