PM To Receive Cambodian Asian Games Medalists Next Week

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will receive the Cambodian medalists of the Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia next week, said H.E. Vat Chamroeun, Head of Mission of Cambodia Asian Games.

The Cambodian medalists will arrive back home on Sept. 3, at around 17:00, he added, pointing out that they will be solemnly welcomed upon their arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport, then proceed to the Peace Palace where they will meet Samdech Techo Prime Minister and obtain rewards from the government.

According to a sub-decree, for Asian Games, the gold medalist will be offered 80 million Riel (about US$20,000) while the silver medalist 40 million Riel (US$10,000) and bronze medalist 24 million Riel (US$6,000), plus the Premier's rewards of US$10,000, US$5,000 and US$3,000, respectively.

At the 18th Asian Games being held in Indonesia, from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2, 2018, Cambodia won three medals � two gold and a bronze. The two gold medals were claimed by Miss Khan Jessa, a 16-year-old Cambodian-American, for Jiu-Jitsu women's 49 kg event, and by Mr. Saly Ou Moeut, 26, for Ski Modified. This young man from Thbong Khmum province also got a bronze medal for Runabout 1100 Stock.
