Traffic Accident Cases During Pchum Ben Day Increases Only 2 Percent

In total, 53 road accident cases were recorded during the three-day holiday of Pchum Ben Festival, from Oct. 8 to 10, 2018, up only 1 case or 2 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

According to the statistics released by the Department of Traffic Police and Public Order of the General Commissariat of National Police, traffic accidents killed 28 people during the period, an increase by 8 percent, and injured 85 others, down 6 percent.

The major causes of traffic accidents are excessive speeding, drink driving, and other violations of traffic laws.

The provinces with the highest road accident record between Oct. 8 and 10 are Kandal and Kampong Speu followed by Kampong Cham, Pursat, Takeo, Kampot and Prey Veng.
